The scandal plagued Legionaries will apparently face another challenge as a man claiming to be a son of their disgraced founder is suing the order in a Connecticut court. The plaintiff - who claims his father abused him since the age of seven - alleges that the order was negligent and should have known of the founder's "propensity" to abuse children.

Already troubled due to their disgraced founder, the Legionaries of Christ may face additional challenges as reports surface that their founder fathered several children who are now claiming rights to Legionaries' assets. One early report says three Mexican-born children "will try to force the Legionaries of Christ to acknowledge their existence as well as their rights as heirs to the assets of the founder of the religious order." An Apostolic Visitation of the Legionaries began in July.
